CARDZ
© 1995 by Paul Morley
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to cardz - a NON AGA conversion of Klondike deluxe for all Amiga
owners to use. Cardz retains one of the best features of Klondike
Deluxe i.e. the ability to load other card sets ( more on this later ).
1 LOADING CARDZ
Boot disk from drive DF0: and double click on the Cardz Icon.
Cardz requires 1Mb of memory.
2 PLAYING CARDZ
Cardz is based around the game of Klondike. For those of you unfamiliar
with Klondike a brief explanation of how to play the game follows.
When you first play there are seven rows of cards located along the top
of the screen. In the first row lies one card,in the second two and so on,
until in the last row there are seven. You can only see the front side of
the first card in the row. The remainder of the cards are located in the
lower left corner of the screen in what is referred to as the stock pile.
To play you must place a card of one colour on a card of the other colour
you must also follow in numerical sequence e.g.You can put a red two,on a
black three. Cards can be taken from the stock pile or another column.
Click on the stock pile to rotate the cards in the stock and obtain
a new card on top of the stock. Dependent of the level of play the
stock turns with one or three cards. Situated on the lower right of the
screen are the four ace places. Here you may place any of the aces,
followed by a two, three and so on.Cards placed on the ace places must be
of the same suit. Kings may be placed on any empty place in the upper
screen. To win the game all cards must be placed in the correct Ace place
and the rest of the screen empty.
3 CONTROLS
To move cards you first must select a card by clicking on the left
mouse button and then you must click on the destination card with
the left mouse button. To automatically move a card to an ace
place click on the card with the right mouse button. When playing
the game the following keys may be used.
Press <r> to restart a card game.
Press <Esc> to stop playing.
Press <l> to load a cardz set.
Press <Help> to read instructions
Press <m> to read more Cardz
Press <e> set game to easy ( turns one card at a time )
Press <h> set game to hard ( turns 3 cards at a time )
4 GENERAL
* If you make a wrong card move the source card will be de-selected.
* Wrong choices 'Screenflash'.
* Loading another Cardz set will restart the game.
* It is possible to choose a lower level while playing. If you choose
a higher level the game restarts.
* On loading Cardz searches for the cardset named "DEFAULT.CDZ", if this
cannot be found the program exits. If you have a favourite cardset
which you wish to use as a default set simply rename it to
"DEFAULT.CDZ"
5 OTHER CARDZSETS
Cardz uses MODIFIED Klondike AGA cardsets. These sets are converted from
AGA ( very often HAM8 ) images and reduced to 16 colours to retain
compatibility with the entire Amiga range. Using dithering techniques
quality loss is kept to an absolute minimum. For details of other
Cardzsets please read the File MORE_CARDZ found on the disk or from
the main menu.
6 DISTRIBUTION
Cardz may be freely distributed.
